The dumbo octopus is a part of the marine biome. They live deeper in the ocean than all other species of octopus. This type of octopus lives on or near the seafloor at depths of 3,000 to 4,000 m (9,800 to 13,000 ft). Some can live as deep as 7,000 m (23,000 ft) below sea level. These octopods have been spotted in a wide range of places worldwide including New Zealand, Australia, California, Oregon, Papua New Guinea, and in the Philippines. The dumbo octopus can be found in any ocean at the seabed. Considering how deep they live, it only makes sense that their environment is cold and is under very high pressure. They often hideout under rocks and in crevices.

The dumbo octopus can be found in all seven oceans.
