Fireflies can live in a wide range of habitats all around the world. However, they prefer warm moist environments like in the Americas and Asia. Lightning bugs are seen more following the rainy season when the airs more humid. Fireflies thrive in areas near bodies of water and long grasses. These conditions are ideal, especially when it comes to mating season. Deciduous forests and meadows are commonly home to many firefly populations.
The majority of these insects can be found at the meeting point between forest or field and water.
Fireflies can live almost anywhere as long as there is some sort of moisture in the area.
